Early childhood educators play a major role in how children develop emotionally and educationally. Parents put their trust in you. Having the skills to communicate effectively with children is important, and you will learn how to do just that in OCtech’s Early Care and Education program.

You’ll learn about classroom management, safety, nutrition, educational concepts and more. You’ll develop skills for the exceptional child and early intervention, fostering strong partnerships between families and programs, and principles of ethical leadership. Gain confidence in your abilities with supervised field experience. This is a comprehensive program designed to equip you with the practical knowledge needed to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young children and their families.

Mission Statement

Improve the service area’s capacity to meet the unique social, emotional, intellectual, and physical needs of all young children by producing education professionals reflective of their community and capable of putting research into practice.

Candidate Learn Objectives

The Associate of Applied Science degree program in Early Care and Education at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College is accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Early Childhood Higher Education Programs of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, www.naeyc.org. The accreditation term runs from March 2021-March 2028.
