Orangeburg County Library recently received a $500 grant from the American Society of Radiologic Technologists’ National Library Partnership to purchase books that educate the community about the radiologic technology profession and imaging sciences, including computerized tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, mammography, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy, ultrasound and X-ray. The library’s book display is up just in time for National Radiologic Technology Week, Nov. 3-9, which commemorates the discovery of the X-ray by Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen on Nov. 8, 1895. The week calls attention to the important role medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals play in patient care and healthcare safety.
