Jackie Snow has been appointed to the Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College Area Commission.
The retired human resources manager for The Okonite Company joined OCtech’s governing body at its August meeting.
“OCtech is a vital part of the working community in this area. During my career, the college has had a significant impact on the success of the organizations I have been employed with,” Snow said. “I wanted to be a member of the area commission to use my experience to make sure the success of OCtech continues.”
Area Commission Chair Landy Weathers said Snow’s decades of experience in local industry makes him an ideal candidate for the post.
“We are pleased to welcome Jackie to the commission and look forward to working with him,” he said.
Snow has been a part of the Orangeburg community since 1977, when he started South Carolina State College. After graduating with a degree in education, the Georgetown native worked at what is now Husqvarna from 1983 to 1999. He served as Okonite’s human resources manager from 2000 until his retirement in 2024.
Snow is an active member of the community, having served on boards and councils for the S.C. State and Claflin University business programs, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce, Orangeburg County Community of Character, Orangeburg County YMCA, CPM Federal Credit Union and South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation.
“Commissioner Snow has been a longstanding, committed member of the Orangeburg community and brings a wealth of experience from the private sector,” OCtech President Dr. Walt Tobin said. “OCtech is the workforce development leader in this region of South Carolina. I’m excited about his tenure on the area commission as we continue to deliver on that promise for employers and residents of Orangeburg and Calhoun counties. I couldn’t be more pleased with his appointment.”
