New Day, Location for OCtech Foundation’s An Evening of Fine Wines and Foods

The Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College Foundation will hold its 13th annual Evening of Fine Wines and Foods from 7 to 10 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, in the Patrick Student Services Building on the campus of OCtech. In addition to a change in weekday and venue, the Foundation is shaking up this year’s event to include Golden Ticket drawings for spectacular prizes and a Wine Pull in lieu of a silent auction. Project HOPE Helps Students on Path to Healthcare Careers

Five women now have hope for a better future, thanks to a federally funded grant program available at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. Project HOPE – Healthcare Occupations Preparation for Employment – has been providing low-income South Carolina residents with education and training in healthcare careers at state technical colleges for nearly eight years. OCtech Holds Pinning Ceremony for ADN Class of 2017

The Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College Associate Degree Nursing program held its annual pinning ceremony Monday, May 15, at First Baptist Church of Orangeburg. During the ceremony, 40 registered nursing graduates received their pins. Keynote speaker was Connie Varn, retiring ADN program coordinator and longtime nursing instructor at the college. Samantha Whittle received the award for highest GPA, and Thelma George was honored for achieving the second-highest GPA and received the Delura R. Knight Spirit of Nursing Award. Also receiving special honors were Laura Grimsley, President’s Award; Corey Smith, Leadership Award; Candice Collins, Clinical Excellence Award; and Amanda Rider, Best All-Around Award. …

System President Dr. Tim Hardee to Speak at OCtech Graduation May 16

Dr. Tim Hardee, president of the South Carolina Technical College System, will be keynote speaker at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College’s spring graduation. The ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, in the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center on the campus of South Carolina State University. Prior to becoming System president in November 2016, Hardee served as president of Central Carolina Technical College and has more than 30 years of experience in education throughout South Carolina. Before entering higher education administration, he served as a teacher, coach, counselor and principal on the K-12 level. Hardee graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology …
