The Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College Physical Therapist Assistant program held its annual pinning and award ceremony Tuesday, May 14, on campus in Roquemore Auditorium.
During the ceremony, nine graduates received their pins and were presented with a green honor cord to be worn at graduation.
Irving Batten received the award for highest GPA not only for the PTA class, but for OCtech’s Division of Nursing and Health Science, as well. Brittany Turner received the Clinical Excellence Award, and John Marchant received the Outstanding Performance Award.
As a special gift for what Program Coordinator Lynn Fralix called a special class, each graduate received a handmade wooden sliding board with a saying that reflected their individual personalities.
Also at the ceremony, Kathleen Richardson, a physical therapist assistant at NHC HealthCare, Charleston, was named Clinical Instructor of the Year, and Marlene Workman, a physical therapist at ATI Physical Therapy in Orangeburg, was named Center Coordinator of Clinical Education of the Year.
