The Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College Associate Degree Nursing program held its annual pinning ceremony Monday, May 15, at First Baptist Church of Orangeburg.
During the ceremony, 40 registered nursing graduates received their pins. Keynote speaker was Connie Varn, retiring ADN program coordinator and longtime nursing instructor at the college.
Samantha Whittle received the award for highest GPA, and Thelma George was honored for achieving the second-highest GPA and received the Delura R. Knight Spirit of Nursing Award. Also receiving special honors were Laura Grimsley, President’s Award; Corey Smith, Leadership Award; Candice Collins, Clinical Excellence Award; and Amanda Rider, Best All-Around Award.
In addition, seniors who served as officers or delegates in the OCtech-Student Nurses Association were presented with a blue-and-white honor cord to be worn at graduation.
