Two of Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College’s nursing programs-old-old-old-old have achieved 100 percent pass rates on their licensure exams.
All members of the Associate Degree Nursing Class of 2015 passed the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) on their first attempt, and every member of the Certified Nursing Assistant spring 2015 class successfully completed the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) their first time taking the exam.
“We are extremely proud of these ADN and CNA classes,” said Kay Blackwell, Dean of Health Sciences and Nursing. “When our students complete our nursing programs-old-old-old-old, they are well-qualified to successfully complete their licensure exams and fully prepared to deliver excellent care in the field.”
Application packets are no longer being accepted for the ADN program for fall 2015. However, students who are interested in applying for fall 2016 are encouraged to take their general education requirements before joining the program. Interested applicants are also required to attend a Health Information Program (HIP) session, where they will receive the application packet. HIP session dates and more information are available at https://www.octech.edu/admissions/nursinghealth_sciences.aspx.
The CNA certificate program can be completed in one semester, and day and evening classes are available. Students who complete this program can also earn certificates in Phlebotomy and Electrocardiography to receive their Patient Care Technician Certificate. Additional testing is required for certification in these fields.
