Georgia-Pacific Gives $5,000 to OCtech Foundation

The Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College Foundation has received a $5,000 gift from Georgia-Pacific for the college’s Electrical Engineering Technology program.

“We appreciate Georgia-Pacific stepping forward to support OCtech’s EET program,” Foundation Executive Director Faith McCurry said. “Their generous contribution will assist the college in continuing to provide our students with access to the latest technology and ensuring they are equipped with the skills needed to succeed in today’s competitive job market.”

Georgia-Pacific recently donated $5,000 to the OCtech Foundation for the college’s Electrical Engineering Technology program.OCtech is the only technical college in South Carolina that offers a degree in Electronic Instrumentation, a field of Electrical Engineering Technology that prepares skilled professionals to maintain the reliability and performance of electronic measurement and control systems used in such vital industries as energy, manufacturing and healthcare.

“Education and workforce development are vital priorities at GP, and we believe that investments in organizations like Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College can have a profound impact on the future economic success of our communities,” said Jamey Gowdy, human resource business partner at Georgia-Pacific’s Clarendon OSB plant. “We also want to express our appreciation to the teachers and staff at OCtech for the dedication and guidance they provide to students who are preparing for their future.”
