Calhoun County, OCtech Partner for new Honors Academy

Calhoun County Public Schools has partnered with Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College to give high-achieving middle and high school students a chance to earn college credits and career credentials even sooner. The new Calhoun County Honors Academy will open to its first class of seventh and eighth graders in the 2019-2020 academic school year. It provides an academic atmosphere that supports the students’ transition into OCtech’s Early College. The district has invited students who have demonstrated academic excellence to participate. The Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College Physical Therapist Assistant program held its annual pinning and award ceremony Tuesday, May 14, on campus in Roquemore Auditorium. During the ceremony, nine graduates received their pins and were presented with a green honor cord to be worn at graduation. Irving Batten received the award for highest GPA not only for the PTA class, but for OCtech’s Division of Nursing and Health Science, as well. OCtech’s ADN Class of 2019 Receive Their Pins

The Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College Associate Degree Nursing program held its annual pinning ceremony Monday, May 13, at First Baptist Church of Orangeburg. During the ceremony, 51 registered nursing graduates received their pins. The keynote speaker was Gayle Bishop, retiring adjunct nursing instructor at the college. She applauded the graduates’ perseverance and determination, and said she was proud to all call each member of OCtech’s 36th ADN class a nursing colleague. “Follow the golden rule.
