OCtech Plans Winter Graduation Dec. 12

Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College will hold its winter graduation ceremony at 3 p.m. Tuesday, December 12, on campus in the college’s Roquemore Auditorium. Debra Jones, retiring business program coordinator, is the keynote speaker. Jones has an associate degree in industrial management from Piedmont Technical College, bachelor’s degree in business administration from Lander University, and master’s degrees in business administration and applied economics and statistics from Clemson University. She completed graduate-level computer science classes at Webster University, and earned Certified Associate in Project Management and MSSC Certified Logistics Technician certifications. Whether you want to change careers, start college or get a job, Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College’s new Employability Skills in the Workplace course can help. This seven-week, online college credit course is designed to better prepare students to be competitive in the workforce. Students will learn how to create an effective resume and cover letter while earning career-related certifications in communication skills, conflict resolution, dependability and reliability, employment basics, flexibility and adaptability, initiative, interpersonal skills, planning and organizing, productivity and teamwork. Lawrence L. “Landy” Weathers has been elected as chair of the Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College Area Commission. The election was held at the governing body’s July meeting.
