OCtech Nursing Programs Ranked Among Best in State

Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College’s Associate Degree Nursing and Practical Nursing programs-old-old-old-old are ranked among the best in South Carolina, according to websites dedicated to the professions. OCtech’s ADN program is ranked third out of 29 registered nursing programs-old-old-old-old in the state by RegisteredNursing.org, while the PN program is ranked fifth out of 16 licensed practical nursing/licensed vocational nursing programs-old-old-old-old in S.C. by PracticalNursing.org. OCtech’s Educators Rising collect coats for Our Father’s Closet

Educators Rising, an organization of OCtech Early Care and Education and University Transfer students, recently sponsored a children’s coat drive to collect warm coats for students in need throughout the Orangeburg area. Through the students’ efforts, 75 coats were collected. The students presented the coats to representatives of Our Father’s Closet, an outreach program of Circle One at First Presbyterian Church of Orangeburg. Our Father’s Closet distributes the coats through area schools, the Department of Social Services, the Department of Childhood Intervention, Hispanic Ministries and other charitable community organizations. Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College will host College Goal South Carolina from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 18, in Building R on the OCtech campus. Three faculty and staff members have been honored as Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College’s Educators of the Year and were recognized during the South Carolina Technical Education Association’s annual conference Feb. 16-18 in Myrtle Beach. Sandra Aiken, human resources benefits manager at OCtech, is the outstanding staff honoree; Crystal Mallner, a psychology instructor, is the outstanding faculty member; and Cleveland “Cleve” Wilson Jr., director of agency compliance, academic support and institutional effectiveness at the college, is the outstanding administrator. Local Fundraising Group Fishing for Friends Establishes Physical Therapist Assistant Scholarship at OCtech

The Physical Therapist Assistant program at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College has received a major boost from one of Orangeburg County’s most prolific fundraising organizations.
