Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College will hold two ceremonies honoring its fall 2024 graduates Wednesday, Dec. 18, on campus in the college’s Roquemore Auditorium.
The Nursing graduation ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Graduates of Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Business, Computer Technology, Criminal Justice, Education, Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing Technology, and Health Science and Preparation programs will be honored at the 4 p.m. ceremony. Graduation tickets are required for admission.
Christina Walker, chief nursing officer at MUSC Health-Orangeburg, will be the keynote speaker for the 2 p.m. ceremony.
Walker earned her licensed practical nursing and registered nursing credentials from James Sprunt Community College, Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Jacksonville University and Master of Science in Nursing Leadership from Grand Canyon University.
Most of Walker’s career was spent at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, where she worked extensively in invasive cardiology and patient advocacy. In 2022, she relocated to MUSC Health-Orangeburg to help expand cardiovascular services and improve care for heart attack patients in the community.
State Rep. Justin Bamberg will serve as keynote speaker at the 4 p.m. ceremony. An attorney at Bamberg Legal, LLC, Bamberg has represented House District 90 – which includes Bamberg County and parts of Orangeburg, Barnwell and Colleton counties – since 2015.
Bamberg earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Carolina and a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2011. He is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and Bamberg County Democratic Party, and serves on the Healing Species Board of Directors.
