Tobin Elected to American Association of Community Colleges Board of Directors

Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College President Dr. Walt Tobin has been elected to the American Association of Community Colleges Board of Directors. He was elected to the post in February and began his three-year term July 1. The AACC is the primary advocacy organization for the nation’s community colleges. The association represents more than 1,000 two-year, associate degree-granting institutions and nearly 12 million students. The Board of Directors acts on behalf of the institutional members to create and maintain a vision for AACC, and to determine and ensure that the organization adheres to appropriate standards of performance. “I’m humbled to be selected …

Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College will hold two ceremonies honoring its summer 2024 graduates Thursday, Aug. 1, on campus in the college’s Roquemore Auditorium. The 2 p.m. ceremony will celebrate graduates of Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Business, Computer Technology, Criminal Justice, Education, and Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing Technology programs. Health Science and Nursing graduates will be honored at the 4 p.m. ceremony. St. Matthews Mayor Helen Carson-Peterson will speak at the 2 p.m. ceremony. Georgia-Pacific Gives $5,000 to OCtech Foundation

Richard Murphy has been named vice president of Academic Affairs at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. Murphy joined the OCtech faculty in 2008 as an instructor and Electronics Engineering Technology program coordinator. He was named dean of Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing Technology in 2013.
